Ikaslan - Introduction

argazkiaren azalpena

IKASLAN Project is now consolidated and, little by little, it is corresponding to the assigned objectives at the time. We feel hopeful facing the future of IKASLAN, although we cannot forget we have important challenges ahead. Some of them, which we must answer, are the following:

  • In order to obtain a more attractive Vocational Training, we need better means and to keep up to date in New Technologies. We have to train the teaching staff pedagogically and in how to use these New Technologies. For this challenge achievement, IKASLAN will work side by side with public and private institutions and will serve as mediation between centres and enterprises, promoting an autonomous management by teaching centres.
  • Nowadays, to talk about Lifelong Education or Continuing Training is considered as something increasingly necessary, because this competitive society and the technological innovations force us to do it. From this statement, IKASLAN bets for continuing Vocational Training promotion, through collaboration between enterprises, institutions and teaching centres. Although we know there are not very regular conditions in this sector, we are compelled to offer this training, which is entirely necessary for our society’s development. That is why teaching centres must innovate. Therefore, IKASLAN thinks mainly about two aims: help each centre to obtain its own objectives and achieve the centres integration in diversity to face up to a project for the future.
  • With the intention of promoting, improving and integrating Vocational Training into the labour market, IKASLAN develops a series of projects in co-operation with CONFEBASK, the Basque Business Confederation: Guidance Plans; Improvements and follow-up of FCT; Women’s integration in industry, etc.
  • We must get our young people to have a good language command. We know that the students finishing ESO (Obligatory Secondary Education) and Baccalaureate will be able to use Basque and Spanish indistinctly. Students who choose to continue their studies in any cycle will have to be bilingual, but in some cases they will also command at least a third language, which will be English in this first stage. In a short time, every learning module will be translated into Basque and published in the web page www.jakinbai.com/lanbideki, thanks to LANEKI. Likewise, we want to submit a bid for future sending our young people for internship in other European Union countries, and for this aim, we will count on the collaboration of LEONARDO Programme, enterprises, and public and private institutions.
  • We cannot forget that management must be based on continuing improvements. Through SAREKA, we promoted the philosophy of Quality in every centre (ISO, EFQM, 5S, INVESTORS IN PEOPLE). The whole thing is based on the centre management quality system. In order to carry this task out, IKASLAN has assistants, who act as a model and, at the same time, help us to begin with internal management.

Finally, we must emphasise that we will need everybody’s help to achieve these objectives: from IKASLAN centres, from teachers and workers, from Provincial Councils, City Halls, enterprises, centre directors, and mainly from Vocational Training Department, which has guided us up to now. Well, we will need all those who believe in Vocational Training as a strategic bid for future.
